Melissa’s why
Healthier communities start with connection.
Melissa Thornton, MSN, MBA, RN, began her career in emergency, critical care and trauma nursing before moving into healthcare operations, organizational leadership and entrepreneurship. She studied in the Family Nurse Practitioner and Midwifery tracks, ultimately earning her MSN and MBA. Through that work, she learned that well-being is shaped long before someone enters a hospital—it grows through movement, connection and a sense of belonging.
That belief inspired HIVE Market: a retail marketplace designed to be more than a place to shop. Rooted in the Blue Zones approach to community living, HIVE brings together distinctive products, local businesses, community events and shared experiences—all within a more walkable and welcoming Cheviot.
